After the success of WordPress, Blogger and other blogging platforms for web publishing; many people who aspire to be web designers and developers ask, “Is it necessary to learn HTML”? The websites can be easily and quickly designed and developed with free CMS platforms now and it requires just a few hours before you can get a full-fledged website. So why learn HTML?
I do agree with these people that learning HTML is not necessarily required. If you want to create a blog, just install WordPress as many bloggers do and start writing. Even for static websites, you can get thousands of free and premium themes which can very well suit your needs and save you from headaches of designing your website. So, if you just want to create your own blog or website, it is not necessary to learn HTML.
But, if you plan to start your carrier as web designer or developer, learning HTML is a must. Why? This is because majority of people, who want to start a website, would like to have it custom made completely different from others. They want their business to be taken seriously and if the basic design or look of the website is similar to many others, it will not serve their purpose. If you go through some of the best designed websites, you will find that all of these websites are hand coded. Hand coding ensures that you get exactly what you want your website to look like. Do you really think people will approach you for a website in WordPress? The answer is a big NO. Most of the clients now are quite knowledgeable and they can now setup their website on their own if they want it to make in any CMS platform like WordPress.
So, if you are aspiring to be a web designer or developer, you have got no option other than learning HTML.
Now, the question is what is the best method to learn HTML? Surely, you can grab any good book on HTML and start learning the chapters one by one. However, I will recommend that while you go through the HTML tutorial, keep practicing and creating simple web pages. This will ensure that at the end of the tutorial, you have done enough work to start creating web pages on your own. If you just go through and finish the book on HTML, it will be difficult for you to start building web pages after that.
Let me introduce you with my HTML tutorial module for beginners. I just need your Six Hours to finish this tutorial. Of course, a lot of practice will be required after that before you can design your first functional website.
This is a Free HTML tutorial for beginners with theory, examples and codes for you to practice. You also get a HTML code tester for quickly testing your HTML code while you write. And this code tester works offline also. The chapters have been logically divided for basic, intermediate and advanced levels. Once you finish one level, you get the summary sheet as a ready reckoner. The tutorial will also guide you where to take a break, what to create for practicing, how to inspire and get HTML codes of other websites and related tips and tricks. It has been developed to ensure that you learn HTML in a minimum possible time.
After you finish the basic level, you will be pretty confident of creating simple web pages yourself. In intermediate level, you learn HTML building blocks like images, tables and forms. Advance HTML will cover HTML layout, Iframe, Colors and other advanced topics. At the end, you get the summary of what you have learnt and bookmark it for your future reference.
